CO Bondsman Challenges Pretrial
DENVER, CO - Colorado bondsman Steve Mares is speaking out about Larimer County’s pretrial service program. Mares feels that the $1.7 million Larimer County spends on the pretrial service program is excessive, especially compared to the $802,000 budget Jefferson County, twice the size of Larimer County, spends on their pretrial service program.

Maria Villanueva, a long-time employee of Bargain Bail Bonds Too in Fort Worth, Texas, lost her 11-year old son in a tragic accident Thursday, April 16. Jesus Covarrubias was killed after his bike struck an 18-wheeler truck. A memorial fund has been set up to honor the memory of a life cut short.

NY Bounty Hunter Hits Fugitive In Chase
TOMS RIVER, NJ - New York bounty hunter George Eshareturi is currently out on $2,500 bail after hitting two cars and the fugitive he was chasing on Thursday, April 30. Eshareturi was trying to locate Rodney Cutler.

Kidnapping Charges Against Bondsman Dropped
ST. LOUIS, MO - Charges have been dropped against St. Louis bail agent Gerald W. "Jerry" Cox, his son and two bounty hunters working for him. The charges of kidnapping, first-degree burglary, tampering with a motor vehicle and stealing stemmed from an incident on August 17. Two bounty hunters working for Cox are still facing charges.

Three Charged in Bondsman Licensing Case
BLADEN COUNTY, NC - Three North Carolina residents have been charged in a recent case where an unlicensed individual helped two bondsman apprehend a fugitive. North Carolina's State Department of Insurance has been cracking down recently on bail agents and recovery agents acting without being licensed.

NC Halfway to Requiring Bail Agents to Have HS Diploma
RALEIGH, NC - The North Carolina Senate has just passed Senate Bill S458 which requires a person applying to be a licensed bail agent have a high school degree or GED equivalent. In addition, a person with a misdemeanor drug violation within the past 24 months will be denied a license.
