Bondsman Convicted of Racketeering

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Former bondsman Joseph Gustafson Sr. has been convicted of racketeering and other charges, many linked to a gang known as the Beat Down Posse – a gang that Gustafson allegedly led. Gustafson was allegedly running the gang, using his business, Gustafson Bail Bonds, as a front. He remains in jail without a chance of bail. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for early March. Gustafson faces decades in jail.

Bondsman Weighs in on Accusations Against Mayoral Staffer

SHREVEPORT, LA -- Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover’s former assistant Rick Seaton is facing charges of rape with his trial on those charges beginning this week.  Seaton is accused of luring an 18-year-old woman he met at the Independence Bowl on December 27, 2010 to the mayor’s office and sexually assaulting her. The woman had been drinking and her boyfriend had been placed in jail. At one point during the night, says Louisiana bondsman Jonathan Long, the woman approached him at the jail and asked for his help in bailing her boyfriend out of jail. Long told her he could not help because the boyfriend and the woman were not from Louisiana. Long also claims that the woman told him that the “detective” she was with had touched her in an inappropriate way.

Inmate Tells Bondsman Explosives Left In Room

EUREKA, CA -- A bondsman was contacted by a jail inmate in the Humboldt County jail. The inmate told the bondsman that some explosives had been left at Christie's Motel. Law enforcement evacuated the motel and searched the premises, but found no evidence of explosives. Motel staff told police they saw nothing suspicious in the hotel or in the room where the inmate had stayed.

Bad News for Bondsman Who Bailed Out the Quaids

SANTA BARBARA, CA -- The American Surety Company posted a $1 million bail for Randy and Evi Quaid before the couple left for Canada, missing multiple court dates. The California bond company was in court this week, pleading for an exoneration of the bond. However, Judge Frank Ochoa denied the plea, so that the bail is not forfeit. The Quaids have not made a court appearance in more than twelve months.
