Bondsman Accused of False Imprisonment
CARTHAGE, MO – Bondsman Jean Marie Chartier has been charged with false imprisonment after allegedly handcuffing Reynaldo Delarosa to stairs after authorities at a jail did not accept the man into the jail because Chartier did not bring a judge’s order. Chartier then allegedly brought Delarosa to her home, where she kept him handcuffed to her stairs for 24 hours or more, until two friends signed a bond.

Bondsmen Work to Bail out Priest
SACRAMENTO, CA -- Attorneys and a Sacramento bail bondsman working on behalf of Rev. Uriel Ojeda have been trying to get the Catholic priest released from jail on bond. Ojeda faces charges of child molestation. His parishioners are supporting him by holding a vigil outside the Sacramento County Main Jail until the bondsman can release him. Sacramento Superior Court Judge Marjorie Koller lowered the bail to $700,000. Originally, bail was set at $5 million. Sacramento bounty hunter and Leonard Padilla told reporters that concerns about Ojeda’s ties to Mexico have likely kept the bail high. While some bondsmen consider the bond risky Paul Scherbenske of Paul's Bail Bonds has been working at the jail to help Ojeda bail out.

Titus County Bail Bond Board Reviews Bail Documentation
TITUS COUNTY, TX -- The Titus County Bail Bond Board has been reviewing the documentation and the forms it will require bondsmen in the county to submit and file as part of the job. For example, the board considered creating its own form for Surrender of a Principal, but decided to allow bail bondsmen to use the forms created by bail bond agent’s professional groups.

Man Commits Suicide to Avoid Bondsmen
FORT SMITH, AR -- Arkansas bail bondsmen from JE Bonding arrived at the home of Robert David Smith after Smith did not appear at a court date to face drug charges. According to the bondsmen, Smith seemed cooperative but then suddenly ran into another room. The bondsmen heard gunfire and called police. When police arrived and entered the home, they found that Smith had shot and killed himself.
