Bail Bond Business Bucks City Ordinance |
|
BRANDON, MS - A new bail bond business is attempting to move into a vacant building in the downtown Brandon area, but the move has sparked a public hearing, to be held in the coming week. Earlier this year, a new city ordinance banned tattoo parlors, bail bond companies, check cashing businesses, and other types of businesses from the downtown area. The city hopes to rebuild the downtown area as an arts district. George Sandifer, who owns the American National Bail Bonding Agency, is attempting to move into the downtown area anyway, and applied for a license the day before the ordinance took effect. At least one city spokesperson has stated that Sandifer’s proposed business will be a “hard sell.” The city worries that the business will take away from the concept that the city has created for the downtown area.
