Bondsman Markets With Flair |

TEMPE, AZ - Bail bondsman Duke Barrett owns Tempe's Ain't Gonna Wear Pink Shorts Bail Bonds. The pink shorts refer to the pink underwear that jail inmates in the area must wear. As the name of the bail bond company suggests, much of Barrett's marketing materials - including business cards and t-shirts - are hot pink. Barrett notes that local attorneys, court commissioners and inmates all understand the joke.

Accused Bondsman Killer Fit For Trial |

RICHMOND, VA - James E. Carr, accused of killing bondsman James W. Woolfolk III, has been found competent to stand trial. Psychologist Evan S. Nelson evaluated Carr, who claimed he was hearing voices that told him to commit suicide. Nelson found that Carr was competent for trial, a decision that Richmond Circuit Judge Beverly W. Snukals accepted. Carr’s trial is expected to last only a few hours because the basic facts of the case are agreed upon.

Suspect Escapes Bondsman |

BROOKHAVEN, MS – Bondsman Donald Dale Hollifield of Donald's Bonding Company bonded James May out of the Lincoln County Jail. May asked to borrow Hollifielld’s cell phone to call someone to pay the bondsman. When the bondsman granted the suspect his phone, May talked on the phone and then ran away. May is now missing. He is charged with sexual assault and burglary. Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing notes that since the bondsman paid May's bond, the suspect is legally out of jail and the police and jail officials cannot help Hollifield until May refuses to show up in court.

Did Aztec Judge Make Bail Officer’s Work Harder? |

AZTEC, NM - Aztec municipal judge, Barbara Aldaz-Mills, has been charged with a misdemeanor for encouraging the violation of bail. In this bizarre case, allegedly the judge warned the defendant that a bail officer was trying to arrest him. A bondsman was en route to arrest the man after a local bail bond company sought to have the man's bond revoked. Aldaz-Mills allegedly left a phone message for the man telling him that officers were going to arrest him. On the message, Aldaz-Mills allegedly told the man to return to court to deal with the situation.
