Trivia Question of the Week

Win a $20 Gas Card!

Which sci-fi series features famous bounty hunter Boba Fett?

The first person to call (866) 411-2245 with the correct answer will win a $20 gas gift card.

Last issue's question was: What U.S. Supreme Court case opines "When bail is given, the principal is regarded as delivered to the custody of his sureties. Their dominion is a continuance of the original imprisonment. Whenever they choose to do so, they may seize him and deliver him up in their discharge... They may exercise their rights in person or by agent. They may pursue him into another State; may arrest him on the Sabbath; and if necessary, may break and enter his house for that purpose."?

Correct answer: The answer is Taylor v. Taintor, 83 U.S. 366 (1872).

The winner of last issue's trivia question and a $20 gas gift card was Ken McKay from Toledo, Ohio.

Bail Bondsmen in North Carolina Face Unique Challenges

RALEIGH, NC – Across the various states, suspects who have been accused of a crime can often turn to a bondsman in order to post bail. In exchange for paying 10% of the bond amount and promising to appear in court, the suspects can wait for their court appearance at home rather than in jail. If they fail to appear in court, bounty hunters can seek them out and have them arrested. In North Carolina, however, bounty hunting is illegal. This means that bondsmen need to enforce the bail. This makes the job of a bondsman in the state more dangerous, as he or she cannot outsource skip recovery to an experienced bounty hunter.

Caylee Anthony's Mother Out On Bail

ORLANDO, FL - Casey Anthony, mother of missing child Caylee Anthony, has finally left jail after posting bail. Well-known bondsman Tony Padilla has posted her $500,000 bond, telling media that with the mother out of jail, more efforts can be made to find the missing toddler, Caylee. Casey Anthony will need to wear an ankle monitor and will stay with her parents. She is still a "person of interest" in her daughter’s disappearance, largely because she refused to report her daughter missing until almost 30 days after the child disappeared. She has been charged with child neglect, making false statements and obstructing an investigation. It is reported that a Leonard Padilla Bounty Hunters' staff member will move into the Anthony home because Casey Anthony is considered a higher risk client.
