Bail Bondsmen in North Carolina Face Unique Challenges |
|
RALEIGH, NC – Across the various states, suspects who have been accused of a crime can often turn to a bondsman in order to post bail. In exchange for paying 10% of the bond amount and promising to appear in court, the suspects can wait for their court appearance at home rather than in jail. If they fail to appear in court, bounty hunters can seek them out and have them arrested. In North Carolina, however, bounty hunting is illegal. This means that bondsmen need to enforce the bail. This makes the job of a bondsman in the state more dangerous, as he or she cannot outsource skip recovery to an experienced bounty hunter.
