The Olympian Opines That Bounty Hunters Should be Trained More |
OLYMPIA, WA - An opinion piece in The Olympian this past week suggested that the Washington Legislature take steps to improve training for bounty hunters. The article praised the 2004 House Bill 2313, which established minimal expectations for industry. However, the writer of the editorial noted that the 2004 legislation requires only 12 hours of training for bounty hunters who are allowed to use firearms, handcuffs, and other weapons to apprehend felons. The piece quotes the executive director of the National Association of Bail Enforcement Agents as saying that regulating the trainers of aspiring bounty hunters also is important.

New Zealand Bondsmen Speak Out About Nai Yin Xue |
NEW ZEALAND - Fugitive Nai Yin Xue, wanted by the New Zealand police and United States authorities, is a topic of conversation for New Zealand bondsmen and bounty hunters. New Zealand professionals note that the authorities have access to technology and databases that bounty hunters cannot claim rights to. That can give authorities a powerful edge in finding the fugitive. However, industry professionals interviewed in the article pointed out that the bounty hunters’ hunger to catch fugitives, as well as their freedom to arrest without a warrant can give them an edge in these cases. |
