TITUS COUNTY, TX -- Jail overcrowding has become so challenging in many areas that some municipalities have been reaching agreements with other cities and counties to transport and house inmates. Most recently, the City of Omaha has reached an agreement with Titus County to house some Class C Misdemeanor prisoners at a jail in Titus County. The plan will cost $36 per inmate per day. Titus County has this year implemented a new bail bond board and County Judge Brian Lee has stated so far that the board has not increased the local jail population, although it has made bondsmen in the area more selective about clients.
